On Thursday night, Liverpool will be anticipated to respond in their Premier League class with Sheffield United after what was a good night for title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City.
Having moved to the top of the Premier League on Sunday, the Reds were leapfrogged Wednesday evening by Arsenal after the Gunners breezed past Luton.
Manchester City also picked up a comfortable win, with Phil Foden’s hat-trick guiding them to a 4-1 win over Aston Villa.
Liverpool though will have the chance to move back to the summit tomorrow evening, and Jürgen Klopp’s men will be fully expected to come up with the perfect response to Arsenal and City. Sheffield United is the visitor to Anfield, and the Reds will be heavy favorites.
Not only that, but Klopp should have a couple of injury boosts to help him along as the countdown toward his exit continues.
The Liverpool boss will of course be hoping to mark his farewell with two more trophies, although there is plenty of work to do between now and the end of the season.
Liverpool’s lengthy injury list is just starting to relent a little bit as we move into the business end of the season. Jürgen Klopp will have a couple more players back when the Reds take on Sheffield United tomorrow.
Andy Robertson and Curtis Jones will be back in contention after Klopp confirmed the pair have been back in training.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota hopefully won’t be too far behind either, although tomorrow comes too soon for them.
Klopp has revealed a slight concern over Wataru Endō after he picked up a knock against Brighton, although it hopefully shouldn’t be anything too serious. Catch up on the latest on the injury front here.
Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk has sent a message to Liverpool’s next manager, with the Reds’ captain willing to offer any advice to Jürgen Klopp’s successor.
Although the 32-year-old’s future remains somewhat up in the air, with his contract set to move into its final year this summer, Van Dijk is willing to offer up his expertise.
“You want to do things in your own way, what you think is important for the team and what will be successful to the team,” he told ITV.
“That’s what you bring to the table as well.
“I’m sure that a new manager will definitely have that feeling but if there’s any questions or anything that he would like me to advise him on I would definitely do that.”
