Once again, Chelsea are searching for a new manager after the exit of Mauricio Pochettino. Fans of the Stamford Bridge club are in no doubt who they want, with supporters calling for Jürgen Klopp to be given the job.
Chelsea announced Pochettino’s exit after just one year in charge of the club, with the Argentine leaving by mutual consent.
He had been under pressure for much of the season, although an upturn in form during the second half of the campaign saw the Blues qualify for Europe by finishing sixth in the Premier League.
Nevertheless, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is now left searching for yet another manager, having sacked both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter last season before turning to Frank Lampard on an interim basis.
“Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and sporting directors for the opportunity,” Pochettino said in a statement.
“The club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.”
With Pochettino now gone, there is one man Chelsea fans have identified as their next target. Many have already begun urging Boehly to bring Klopp to Stamford Bridge following his departure from Liverpool.
Chelsea fans though look set to be left disappointed. Klopp has already outlined his plans following his departure from Liverpool, and he has ruled out ever working for another Premier League club.
“If you ask me, ‘Will you ever work as a manager again?’ I would say now no,” Klopp explained to Liverpool’s official website when he announced his decision to leave Anfield.
“But I don’t know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation. What I know definitely – I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool, 100 per cent. That’s not possible. My love for this club, my respect for the people is too big. I couldn’t.
“I couldn’t for a second think about it. There’s no chance. This is part of my life, we are part of the family, we feel home here. There’s no chance to do that. But all the rest, will I ever work again? Of course, I know myself, I cannot just sit around.”
