NASCAR veteran Joey Logano has responded to haters who believe his 2024 NASCAR Cup Series title wasn’t legit. It marked Logano’s third NASCAR Cup Series championship, and he achieved it after dominating the season-final race at Phoenix Raceway.
After winning his third NASCAR title, Logano received backlash on social media because some netizens claimed that the #22 driver’s title is not legal, as he got the benefit of Alex Bowman’s disqualification at Charlotte ROVAL that revived him to advance into the Round of 8.
In the latest episode of “Kenny Conversation,” former NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace invited this season champion Joey Logano, who goes in detail on winning his third title. The #22 Team Penske driver also defends himself with a blunt message to haters who didn’t like his 2024 championship victory.
Responding to critics, Logano said:
“My point is saying that the regular season matters so much, and we had to play from behind the eight ball the whole time. We still had the opportunity to win the championship even though we didn’t have a great regular season. But we got hot when it mattered; we won the races that mattered, and we won the championship because of that. And if you don’t like that, you can kiss my ass. That’s how we feel about it. It’s so frustrating to see it.”
Joey Logano didn’t have a stellar regular season, but he put on an outstanding show in the postseason when it mattered the most, winning crucial races to secure the title. He won three races in the playoff season, including the Las Vegas race of the elimination round and the season finale.
In the aforementioned interview, Joey Logano also shared his views of life beyond racing. He views NASCAR titles as temporary in front of family and friendships, as he believes that trophies will not last longer as compared to the relationship.
“At the end of the day, what are you going to have? People. That’s all you got. It’s those relationships that you’ve built. And so I guess I cherish those things more than the trophies because the trophies are great, but at the end of the day, it’s just a piece of metal,” Logano told Wallace. [5:25]
Joey Logano married long-time girlfriend Brittany Baca on December 13, 2014. The couple is proud parents of two sons (Hudson and Jameson) and a daughter (Emilia).
