IS THE KING READY TO ABDICATE? LeBron James Drops Bombshell Hint About Retirement

LeBron James’ performances with the Los Angeles Lakers this season prove that he still has gas left in the tank, but he is aware that he is getting closer to the day when he will have to end to his career in professional basketball.

At almost 40 years old, he maintains statistics worthy of a player who is in his prime. This season, he is averaging 23 points per game, 8.0 rebounds and 9.1 assists.

Lebron admits his time is running out
After recording a triple-double of 39 points in the 132-134 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, The King was asked if he thinks fans appreciate what he brings to the team.

“I don’t know. I just go out there and play the game the right way,” James replied.

“I compete at a high level and leave it all on the court every time I go out there. My time is very limited, on how long I’ll play, so I’m just happy to still be able to play the game that I love,”

LeBron signed a two-year, $101.4 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers during the preseason, although the second year of the deal is a player option worth $52.6 million.

“We’ll see what happens in the future. I have a lot to think about, to be honest. As far as I’m concerned, personally, in the future of basketball, I have a lot to think about,” he added regarding his retirement date.

LeBron has only missed one game so far in his 22nd season – he sat out Sunday’s 107-98 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers after hurting his left foot in the previous game against the Hawks. He should be back for the next game – against the Timberwolves at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Friday.
