Jurgen Klopp admits it is “frightening” that his players are now traveling the world on international duty after Liverpool’s impressive start to the season.
The Reds moved up to 12 points in the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, extending their unbeaten run to 15 games after a strong end to last season.
Liverpool followed their weekend opener with Chelsea by winning at home to Bournemouth and away to Newcastle United, despite Alexis Mac Allister being out for the last two games, Steer and Virgil van Dijk being sent off and playing with 10 men.
A total of 15 of the 20 players in Sunday’s squad have gone on away breaks and Klopp is praying for their safe return. “The boys are flying all over the world now, it’s terrible,” said the Reds boss. “Hopefully they will all come back healthy and we have to build on that good start. It was a good start before and this is a very good start.
“It was really good (against Villa). I’m really enjoying it and I’m really happy that we can do (a show like this) because we’ve been gone for two weeks.
“We will definitely be happy to get 10 points from the first four games. Their away games are very, very tough. Villa have a tough game at home and Bournemouth are looking very good at the start of the season.l I am very happy. ”
After Saturday’s international break, Liverpool resume their Premier League action at 12.30pm against Wolves, whose South American squad – Alisson Becker, Alexis Mac Allister, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez – are expected to return to Merseyside within two days of the game. World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking to Liverpool TV, Klopp added:
“There is an international break and almost 48 hours after our South American team plays somewhere on the other side of the world, we play Wolves. It’s going to be hard work, so we’ve got to make sure we’re ready and we’re going to try. “
