David de Gea is confident Manchester United can continue to win without Marcus Rashford in the team.
It was confirmed earlier this week that Rashford will miss Manchester United’s next game due to an injury sustained against Everton last week. The striker’s first match with him will be tonight. The Reds face Sevilla at Old Trafford in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
United then travel to the East Midlands at the weekend to meet fellow survivors Nottingham Forest at The City Ground. The absence of the club’s top scorer has been a major concern among fans, perhaps Erik Ten Haag. Rashford has scored 28 goals in all competitions this campaign, including 10 winners and a further 10 assists. David de Gea recalls the Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Haag remembers his 50th game for Manchester United.
David de Gea refused to be involved in contract speculation at his pre-match press conference.
He is having the best season of his career and hopefully he will come back soon and add more to his record to finish it off in style.
De Gea on Rashford’s absence
But De Gea still believes his team-mates will influence the outcome of the offense and discussed this in an interview with MUTV ahead of tonight’s kick-off. “We have to go home without Marcus Rashford. How much will we lose after scoring in two games against Betis?
“Yes, he will definitely make a big mistake. He performed brilliantly throughout the season and scored important goals for us. But we’ve had people come off the bench in almost every game and they’ve been amazing. We’ve got a big squad and good players, so no matter who plays there, [everyone] will definitely do well in that position.”
“Anthony Martial is another player who came back and scored. It’s great to see him score. Do you think this is his chance to step up and show everyone he’s got all the skills he’s got?
“I hope we know what he can do on the pitch. That’s great. When he’s healthy and ready to play, he’s a great player. “He can dribble, score and pass. So he’s definitely going to be a big player for us.”
