Man Utd must capitalize on Villa and Bournemouth performance to finish top four

Manchester United have an excellent chance of bolstering their Champions League qualification hopes after their four main rivals dropped points against Aston Villa and Bournemouth today[Saturday].

Villa have been in excellent form under Unai Emery in recent months and continued their good work with a convincing 3-0 win over Newcastle United at Villa Park.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth stunned Tottenham Hotspur supporters with an outstanding performance. The Cherries secured a dramatic 3-2 win after Dango Quattara’s 95th-minute winner.

Both clubs have done United a huge favor in their pursuit of the top four and United will now need to capitalize on that with a win against Nottingham Forest away tomorrow.

The Red Devils have beaten Forest in each of their three meetings this season, but tomorrow’s game is a different challenge with several key players missing.

Both Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane are sidelined with foot injuries, while Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are also sidelined with groin and ankle problems.

There are also questions about the suitability of Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay. United will therefore not be full-strength, but that shouldn’t be an excuse to drop points.

On paper, United are overwhelming favorites to pick up another win. Anthony Martial has a chance to impress up front after a great assist against Sevilla.

A win tomorrow will send United to third in the table, three points clear of Newcastle United.

More importantly, the Red Devils can widen the gap between themselves and number five Tottenham to six points. They would have one more game credit for the London team.
