Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the Premier League this afternoon. Here are our player ratings for the game.
(A score of 6 translates to average)
David de Gea 6 – Wasn’t too involved. The cast was mixed – some good and some bad.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 7 – Steady.
Harry Maguire 4.5 – Started the game poorly with a rugby tackle which earned him a yellow card. Seemed fragile and did not inspire confidence.
Victor Lindelof 7 – Was pretty good. Some good interceptions and forward runs, especially in the second half.
Diogo Dalot 8 – Fantastic goal and generally did a good job in an unfamiliar position. He came forward a lot and didn’t leave much behind defensively.
Casemiro 5.5 – Not terrible, but mediocre by its standards. A lot of unpredictable passes.
Christian Eriksen 7.5 – Sent off in the warm-up after Sabitzer’s injury, he was one of United’s best players, calm under pressure, very well distributed and also defensively.
Antony 8 – Scored the goal and had a great assist with the superb through ball for Dalot. Looked dangerous as he ran towards his defender. Must drop him faster if he wants to be effective on the counterattack.
Bruno Fernandes 9 – As always, some really sloppy and unnecessary passes were totally made up for by the genius. A superb shot brilliantly saved by Navas, superb corners and set pieces and was the creative and energetic spark for everything United did.
Jadon Sancho 5.5 – Another pretty poor performance from Sancho. Better in the second half. Nice masked back jab at the start of the second.
Anthony Martial 5 – He got the assist on a blocked shot, but that wasn’t an example of Martial at his best. He should have scored the header just before being replaced.
Substitutes:
Wout Weghorst 6.5 – He did what he does well, well.
Fred 6 – Didn’t affect the game much.
