Harry Kane will join Manchester United this summer if Tottenham does not book a Champions League spot – Danny Murphy

Danny Murphy expects Harry Kane to join Manchester United this summer if Tottenham fails to qualify for the Champions League.

Apart from four loan spells over a decade ago, Kane has spent his entire career at Spurs, scoring sensational goals but not picking up an award.

The 29-year-old became Tottenham Hotspur and England’s record goalscorer earlier this year and is on course to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record.

But former England midfielder Murphy believes Kane will end his spell with Spurs at the end of the season so long they don’t qualify.

Tottenham, who fired Antonio Conte last month, are fifth in the Premier League with seven games to go. Third-placed Manchester United and fourth-placed Newcastle United both have matches pending against the north London outfit.

If Spurs fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, Murphy thinks Kane will push a move to Manchester United, who are expected to sign a new striker this summer.

“A few weeks ago I was asked about Harry Kane’s future and at the time I thought he would stay at Tottenham. That’s what I thought,” Murphy told the FIVE YouTube channel.

“But with Antonio Conte gone, the team is falling, the fans are not happy, the team looks unhappy and they probably won’t play in the Champions League next season.

“I don’t think they will be in the Champions League anyway. I think that will be enough for Harry Kane. If Tottenham don’t get the Champions League, I think he will go to Man United.

Manchester United enjoyed a promising first season under Erik ten Hag, winning the League Cup and progressing to the later stages of the Europa League and FA Cup.

Burnley loanee Wout Weghorst played for the Red Devils for much of the half of the season following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.

In the search for a new striker, Manchester United have been linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, as well as England captain Kane.

Kane’s next game for Tottenham will be crucial against top four rivals Newcastle United at St James’ Park. Despite Spurs’ struggles, Kane has scored 31 goals in 55 games in all competitions this season.
