Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka impressed in the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton on Sunday night.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is open to staying at Old Trafford amid transfer links to Crystal Palace, according to reports. The 25-year-old defender struggled for playing time at the start of the season. But he has since emerged as a key player for Erik ten Hag and he thrived on Sunday as the Red Devils beat Brighton to reach the FA Cup final.
Manchester United have seen Wan-Bissaka blowing hot and cold since his arrival from Crystal Palace about four years ago.
But the right-back appears to have put his troubles behind him in recent months and was one of the best performers on the pitch on Sunday as the Red Devils beat Brighton.
According to the Daily Mail, Wan-Bissaka is now ready to stay at United.
His current contract expires next year meaning this summer could be the last chance for the Red Devils to secure a fee for the player.
But a possible extension “is not expected” and there is a chance the defender will stay now.
Crystal Palace are still interested in bringing Wan-Bissaka back to Selhurst Park after selling him to United for £50million in 2019.
But his resurgence at United suggests there’s a chance the defender will stay put and wrestle for his future.
However, If Dalot leaves, Ten Hag will likely use the summer transfer window to sign a replacement.
Jeremie Frimpong has been linked, with the Bayer Leverkusen star who has impressed with his performances under Xabi Alonso this season.
Max Aarons has previously been tipped to join United, although things have been quiet since the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer some 18 months ago.
Another right-back in United’s radar is Denzel Dumfries, whose long-term future at Inter is currently up in the air.
Former United star Rio Ferdinand has praised Wan-Bissaka for his performance against Brighton on Sunday.
“I think Wan-Bissaka for me [was the standout player],” Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel.
“Kaoru Mitoma has been the find of the season for me, he caused big problems for all the teams they played against.
“And to be fair to Wan-Bissaka, he put the chains on him.
“And we all know how good Wan-Bissaka is defensively and today he proved again that he can handle high quality players in good form.
“If I’m competing with you, he’s as good as anyone else out there.”
Wan-Bissaka has previously insisted he was happy at United, saying so at the start of the season.
“I intended to stay but during this period (outside the team) my goal was just to play, everyone likes to play and that makes me happy,” said the 25-year-old.
“During this time, I would do anything to be able to play again.
“I’m happy here, I’ve been happy since I joined and that’s what I worked for and continue to work for.”
Wan-Bissaka is hoping for a start when United face Tottenham on Thursday (8.15pm).
Tottenham will enter the game on a huge low after a crushing 6-1 loss to Newcastle at the weekend.
United beat Spurs early in the season with a 2-0 win in October with Fred and Bruno Fernandes the goal scorers.
