Manchester United are reluctant to engage Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy over Harry Kane

Harry Kane is approaching the final year of his Tottenham contract and Man United manager Erik ten Hag is looking to sign the England captain.
Kane has scored 31 goals in 52 appearances for club and country this season.

Manchester United are reluctant to get involved in a saga with Tottenham Hotspur over Harry Kane, despite Erik ten Hag’s desire to sign the striker.

Sources say United do not want to get involved in Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s tendencies to delay negotiating deals with Tottenham Hotspur players.

Manchester City failed in their attempts to buy Kane in the summer of 2021 and it was only on August 25 that Kane confirmed that he would remain at Spurs.

Spurs were confident of keeping Kane through the summer and City could not justify the outlay for Kane and the £100m signing of Jack Grealish. United have not signed anyone from Tottenham since Dimitar Berbatov joined for a club record £30.75million on transfer deadline  in 2008. Abu Dhabi Group’s takeover of City at the start of the day and their late bid for Berbatov allowed Levy to raise the odds.

Kane, 29, has scored 26 club goals this season and is approaching the final year of his contract with Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs seem destined not to qualify for the Champions League and are now sixth after Aston Villa usurped them with a win over Fulham on Tuesday night.

England captain Kane never won a major trophy and United became the only possible club in the Premier League to win Kane over Spurs. Tottenham have gone 15 consecutive seasons without a trophy.

Alejandro Garnacho appeals to Erik ten Hag after Manchester United block U20 World Cup call-up

Manchester United striker Alejandro Garnacho, the teenager, would miss the FA Cup final against Manchester.

Alejandro Garnacho is desperate to take part in the U20 World Cup next month and has reportedly asked Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to let him go.

The 18-year-old has made a breakthrough for the Red Devils this season, scoring five times and providing six assists in 31 games before picking up an ankle injury.

Garnacho is set to return to action before the end of the season, with United still having nine games to play, including the FA Cup final against Manchester City on June 3.

However, the U20 World Cup starts on May 20 – with the squad meeting beforehand – meaning Garnacho would miss at least four games. United will play at Bournemouth on the day the tournament begins in Argentina, before hosting Chelsea and Fulham ahead of their trip to Wembley in early June.

Garnacho had been included in Argentina’s provisional squad but due to the overlap with United’s campaign, the Red Devils hierarchy blocked his participation.

Not even a meeting with U20 head coach Javier Mascherano convinced United, as the former Liverpool midfielder is currently on a European tour trying to persuade clubs to release their players for the tournament.

Now, Argentine newspaper Doble Amarilla claims that Garnacho will personally ask Ten Hag to link him with the national team.
