Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson expects Manchester United to secure a comfortable win against Tottenham tonight.
Spurs go into the game having changed their manager after a humiliating 6-1 loss to Newcastle last weekend, and Merson believes United will pile on the misery:
“Both teams play the same way – they sit back and attack on the counter, and I don’t think much will happen. Manchester United can also kill a game – they were second best against Brighton at times, but they were comfortable. Credit where credit is due – they are now in a final.
“I’m afraid Tottenham don’t have a manager and I don’t see how they can recover from their defeat against Newcastle. Man United will have too much going for them on the counterattack and should be able to win this game.”
Merson had gone with a 2-0 win for Erik ten Hag’s side, which seems like a decent prediction given the fragile state the home side are in ahead of the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It may be a contained affair at first, as Merson says, with Tottenham keen to keep watch in the defence after being torn to pieces a few days ago at St James’ Park.
However, whether they have the organization to keep the likes of Marcus Rashford quiet for the full 90 minutes is questionable, so tonight the Red Devils should have a good chance of securing the three points.
