Erik ten Hag confirms Alejandro Garnacho will return to full training ahead of Man Utd clash with Aston Villa

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Alejandro Garnacho will return to team training ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game against Aston Villa.

The Red Devils recently drew 2-2 at Tottenham Hotspur. They were leading 2-0 at halftime, but lost the lead.

Ten Hag will consider a better response against Villa on Sunday and before the game he confirmed that Garnacho will be back in full training.

The club graduate has been out for six weeks with an ankle injury but could make the squad if Unai Emery’s side travel to Old Trafford this weekend.

He told Manutd.com, “Yeah [it’s closer to his comeback].”

“He will return to team training tomorrow [Friday] and then we will have to see when he can fully return to team training and then return to games.”

Meanwhile, the Red Devils manager has confirmed the 18-year-old will not be released at the end of May to participate in the U20 World Cup with Argentina.

He added, “No, we won’t release him.”

Garnacho had a fantastic successful season at United. In just 1,000 minutes, the 18-year-old racked up four goals and five assists in all competitions.

Most of his contributions have come in win-win situations. His winning last gasp at Fulham and assist in the Manchester derby are probably his best moments.

Garnacho has now signed a new long-term contract and it could get the best of him. He should play with more freedom after settling his future.

Let’s hope the €25m star is available for Villa’s next clash. Garnacho might not start after a long layoff, but he could potentially be a game-changer off the bench.
