Football, Liverpool are now the apparent front-runners to sign the Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, and Chelsea’s interest in him has diminished. London has a grasp of it.
The Argentine World Cup champion is a target for the Blues, as was previously reported, but that interest has waned recently as Liverpool has intensified its search for the midfielder. It is understood and noted elsewhere that the Reds have made Mac Allister one of their midfield priorities ahead of the summer transfer window and the club is confident they can sign him.
Mac Allister’s growth at Brighton this year has greatly impressed Chelsea. The midfielder has been a crucial part of what looks to be a record-breaking season for the Seagulls, and he also shone for Argentina in their World Cup victory toward the end of 2022.
Mac Allister, a football player, wants to depart Brighton this summer. despite the club’s success this year, London understands. Although Chelsea is very interested, it appears that the Argentine will choose Anfield over Stamford Bridge and leave the Amex Stadium.
The pursuit of Mason Mount by Chelsea will not be affected by Liverpool’s interest in Mac Allister. With just over a year left on his contract, the Reds are still eager to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding the future of the England international in west London.
There have recently been new discussions between Mount and Chelsea about extending his stay, but as of this writing, nothing appears to have changed. His future at Stamford Bridge was seriously in doubt before talks resumed because the two parties were far apart on what they considered to be a reasonable contract offer.
If the ongoing negotiations fail, Mount could still end up at Anfield this summer. Liverpool is still interested in the midfielder. Another school of thought holds that Mount will decide on his future only after learning who will serve as the team’s new head coach.
Mauricio Pochettino, who is reputed to be a huge fan of Mount, appears to be the likely candidate. Currently, Mount is seeking more money than Chelsea is willing to pay, but that could change based on Pochettino’s attitude toward the 24-year-old.
Football will be the solution if no resolution is reached by the summer. According to information available to London, Chelsea would demand somewhere around £70 million for the midfielder’s services. Because of the midfielder’s contract situation, though, Liverpool would undoubtedly try to negotiate a lower price. Additionally, Liverpool could call Chelsea’s bluff given that the Blues are aware that they could lose him on a free transfer in a little more than a year.
