In the battle for Champions League spots, competition is as fierce as ever.
Following their victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers the previous time out, Manchester United still have a chance to finish in the top four.
On Saturday, Erik ten Hag’s team won again at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho. United recovered from 1-0 losses to West Ham and Brighton, who thrashed Arsenal on Sunday.
United is currently in fourth place and tied for third with Newcastle United on 66 points after sharing the weekend’s victories with Leeds. Prior to the final three games against Bournemouth, Chelsea, and Fulham, United is still in a strong position as Liverpool leads the chasing pack.

Conclusion: Since Liverpool can reach 71 points with three victories from their final three, United need to win two of their games to ensure that they cannot be overtaken. By reaching 72 points, United would be assured of playing in the Champions League at Old Trafford in 2023–24.
Brighton is also in the running, but they would have to win every game left to play to have any chance. With Tottenham and Aston Villa have played 36 games, neither can catch United at this point. Erik ten Hag’s side will be no doubt keen to finish third in the table and head into the summer on a positive note.
