Fred confident Manchester United can beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final but acknowledges City have ‘the world’s best forward’

Despite the obvious threat posed by Erling Haaland, Manchester United midfielder Fred claims that his team is capable of stopping Manchester City’s treble.

He spoke to FourFourTwo about the difficulty of stopping Manchester City in the FA Cup final while also keeping Erling Haaland quiet.

With two finals coming up next month, Manchester City have a chance to become only the second English team in history, behind Manchester United, to win the league title, the FA Cup, and the Champions League. At Wembley, they are up against their local rivals, who have an added incentive to win the trophy so they can protect the historic feat of the Red Devils in 1999.

Now, Fred claims that his team can draw strength from the fact that they have already defeated City this year, and that despite Pep Guardiola’s team being impressive, they are not unbeatable.

Fred told FFT: “Manchester City currently play the best football in the world. With a very distinct playing style, they have won numerous titles under Pep Guardiola, an excellent coach.

“It is extremely difficult to deal with them because they know how to maintain possession. It’s not likely, though. This season, we played them on the road and lost, but we defeated them at home with Haaland in the lineup.”

However, Fred now acknowledges that Erling Haaland is currently the best striker in the world.
United is rumored to be looking for a forward in the upcoming transfer window. The Norwegian has broken the Premier League goal record this season, and if United want to win the Cup, they’ll need to keep him quiet once more.

“Yes, I agree that he is currently the best forward in the world, but we are Manchester United, and if we can play our best football, I don’t see why we can’t win.”

Manchester United reportedly open to selling Anthony Martial to fund Neymar move

Fred confident Manchester United can beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final but acknowledges City have ‘the world’s best forward’

Manchester United may decide to part ways with Anthony Martial in order to pursue Neymar of Paris Saint-Germain.

Martial may be up for sale in the upcoming transfer window as Manchester United look to sign Neymar Jr. from Paris Saint-Germain.

Making this choice would free up money and room on the squad for a marquee signing before the upcoming season.

Martial, who joined Manchester United in 2015 for £58 million as a highly regarded teenager, has had trouble with inconsistent play and injuries while a member of the Red Devils.

His lack of availability has angered manager Erik ten Hag, and recent incidents like leaving the field after being replaced have raised more questions.

The Sun reports that Martial will be sold by United during the off-season. His contract only has one more year to run.

Martial’s market value is currently estimated at €15 million, so the club may try to raise their transfer budget for the potential acquisition of Neymar by selling him.
