As Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his midfield this summer, Bruno Guimaraes has been linked with a move to Liverpool, and the Newcastle player is at the top of the Reds’ shopping list.
Newcastle and Liverpool have spoken about a possible transfer for Bruno Guimaraes.
Following the departures of James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Arthur, the Reds are expected to strengthen their squad this summer, and at least one new midfielder is anticipated to join them. With only four senior midfielders left, Jurgen Klopp is prepared to bolster his squad.
The 25-year-old Guimaraes has become a top target. Since making the expensive switch to Newcastle from Lyon 18 months ago, the Brazilian has excelled for the Magpies and was a member of the squad that advanced to the Champions League. He only missed six games all of last season and was crucial to their fourth-place finish.
Following his admission of his Liverpool legacy, Klopp makes Keita demand.
Liverpool has reportedly started negotiations to sign Guimaraes and has expressed interest in doing so, according to GOAL. The Brazilian international, who might be available for £87 million, is also coveted by Barcelona. Following his £33 million transfer to St James’ Park in January, Guimaraes has three years left on his current contract there.
Newcastle, however, does not want to sell Guimaraes. They are eager to offer him a better contract because they recognize how much he has developed during his time on Tyneside and want to make him one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League. He currently receives a weekly salary from the Magpies of about £120,000.
Liverpool and Barcelona have expressed interest in Newcastle’s most prized player, and Newcastle has been warned about this. If Newcastle wants to keep this player, they may need to be firm. Last month, when discussing his future, Guimaraes said to talkSPORT: “I feel at home here. I’m thrilled to be here, to play, and to contribute to the history of this enormous club.
“It’s important to me, and everyone knows how much I appreciate the club, the supporters, and the support. In my opinion, it serves as a tangible reminder of my native Brazil.
In 2019, Guimaraes transferred from Athletico Paranaese to Lyon after beginning his career at Audax. In January 2020, he secured a transfer to Newcastle, where he has since made 57 appearances and scored 10 goals. On Tyneside, Guimaraes has solidified himself as a fan favorite, and the fans adore him.
Khephren Thuram, a French midfielder, has been linked with a move to Liverpool. L’Equipe reports that Klopp’s team is also vying for the 22-year-old’s services. This season, he has made 48 appearances and scored twice for Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Nice in the middle of the park.
Thuram, the brother of fellow Liverpool target Marcus and the son of French soccer legend Lillian, is a potent midfielder who can play anywhere in the field. Thuram joined Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe on the Ligue 1 Team of the Year thanks to his performances.
It is with sad regret we are shutting down.
