Alexis Mac Allister’s father has already dropped future hint after describing Liverpool target’s ‘best quality’

Alexis Mac Allister is reportedly set to become Liverpool’s first signing this summer

Liverpool target Alexis Mac Allister’s fearlessness is his best attribute, says his father Carlos Javier.

The Reds are prioritising a move for the Argentine star from Brighton & Hove Albion as they fend off competition to snap up the 24-year-old. Alexis has been one of the key members of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad in their historic Premier League campaign that saw them book a spot in European football.

Their sixth-placed finish capped an amazing season for the midfielder after winning the World Cup together with Lionel Messi in December. And Mac Allister is presumed to be Liverpool’s first signing of the summer as Jurgen Klopp plots a midfield overhaul following the exits of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The 55-year-old father and agent of Mac Allister isn’t a stranger to the professional game. Despite making just three international appearances, he had an illustrious career as a left-back in his homeland’s top-flight, playing alongside icon Diego Maradona.

During his time with Argentine giants Boca Juniors, he won the Premier Division and the Copa de Oro Nicolás Leoz – the Gold Cup.

Alexis is one of three Mac Allister brothers and his father spoke glowingly of his success in the Premier League with the Seagulls and hinted that the midfielder wanted to stay in England when he next changes club.

In December he spoke to the guardian saying: “I said: ‘Bloody brilliant! And what personality,” he reflected on a pass made when he was just 17.

“This is a first-division player.’ So I don’t think the pressure will have any effect on him: that’s his best quality.

“The way he tackles. But it’s the only thing he has that’s [like] me, eh!”
