After Adrian’s situation was made clear and three additional new contracts were offered, Liverpool kept the list

As their Premier League retained list confirmed the departure of several Academy players, Liverpool made Adrian an offer for a new contract.

After moving to Anfield in August 2019, Adrian will be a free agent at the end of the month, but he has been in discussions about staying for a fifth season.

The Reds had previously announced the departures of Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita after their contracts expired. Keita has joined Bundesliga club Werder Bremen, Milner has already committed to Brighton, and Aston Villa has expressed a strong interest in Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Jack Bearne, who played in the League Cup quarterfinal at Aston Villa in December 2019 and spent the previous season on loan at Kidderminster Harriers of the National League North, is one of a number of Academy players who have been released.

Other players leaving include goalkeeper Liam Hughes, who twice made the first team bench, defenders Oludare Olufunwa and Charlie Hayes-Green, forwards Fidel O’Rourke and Iwan Roberts, and midfielder Fidel O’Rourke.

However, a new contract has been provided to Paul Glatzel. The 22-year-old won the FA Youth Cup in 2019 while playing for the Reds, but injury-plagued seasons at Tranmere Rovers during his last two loan seasons have ruined his performance. Contracts have also been made available to young goalies Reece Trueman and Jacob Poytress.

A potential new position as a training goalkeeper and coach at the Academy is being discussed with 20-year-old Oscar Kelly, who has previously played in Premier League 2.
