Luis Garcia sends Jurgen Klopp transfer message after Liverpool sign Alexis Mac Allister

Anfield cult hero Luis Garcia has told Fenway Sports Group to back Jurgen Klopp with further Liverpool signings.

The former fan favourite has insisted Liverpool need more signings if they are to challenge in all competitions next season.

It is easy to forget that, just 13 months ago, the Reds were a fraction away from completing an unprecedented quadruple in English football. Fine margins saw Liverpool miss out on the Premier League and Champions League after already winning both domestic competitions.

A disappointing campaign following that, sucked the life out of Liverpool supporters – and provoked Jurgen Klopp to rebuild his squad. Midfield, in particular, was scrutinised as an area for improvement and the Reds will have a new-look engine room at the start of the season.

Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner have left the club while World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister has arrived from Brighton. With the transfer window now open for a matter of days, there are still over two months remaining for Liverpool to announce more signings.

Klopp is on a mission to bring down the average age of the squad, with veterans like Milner moved on. Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez arrived last year but it is the midfield which requires a revamp.

The Ex-Liverpool forward Garcia, who won the Champions League under Rafa Benitez in 2005, has urged FSG to back Klopp and “freshen up” the Liverpool squad. The Spaniard also hailed the acquisition of Mac Allister, who joined the club for around £35million after a stellar Premier League campaign.

“I can see another one arriving if it’s possible,” Garcia said to ESPN. “I think Liverpool need a good freshen-up to face everything that is going to come.

“It’s very important for the club to understand that, if you want to try to challenge for every single trophy, you have seen three or four important players have departed, then you need to bring the same standard and it’s very high.

“They left the standards very high. I think Mac Allister is a very good addition.

“But I still think of another one at the back and another up front, it could also be very important.”
