Tottenham and Liverpool are competing to sign Van de Ven

According to Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are reportedly competing for the services of VfL Wolfsburg player Micky van de Ven this summer.

The 22-year-old has suddenly become well-known in recent months after having a promising season in the Bundesliga last year. Numerous clubs across Europe, including Tottenham and Liverpool, have expressed interest in the Dutchman’s center-back after apparently being impressed by his performances for the Wolves.

The Reds are rumored to be looking to bolster their backline this summer, and they’ve been closely monitoring Van de Ven in preparation for a potential summer transfer.

Romano, a writer for Twitter, claimed that Spurs had already spoken with the player’s representatives about a potential swoop, joining the Merseyside club in the race to sign the Wolfsburg star.

Additionally, the journalist asserts that in addition to Van de Ven, Tottenham also “appreciates” Edmond Tapsoba. Therefore, they might decide to act in the upcoming weeks for both of them.

Romano stated:.

“As both Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven are valued members of the club, Tottenham has included both on their shortlist for the new center-back. The Dutch center back for Wolfsburg, who is represented by team Raiola, has already engaged in discussions. ”.

Van de Ven has four years left on his current contract after recently signing a new one; Transfermarkt values him at around £26 million. Therefore, Wolfsburg is not in a hurry to offload their star player this summer.

The Wolves may find it challenging to hold on to the Dutchman, though, if clubs with the stature of Tottenham and Liverpool decide to formally express their interest.

Van de Ven is a left-footed center-back who is 6 feet 3 inches tall. He has excellent defensive contributions, is quick, strong, technically sound, and can play out of the back comfortably.
He also has good game reading skills.

Van de Ven could be a great addition for either club if they are successful in landing his services this summer, as both Liverpool and Tottenham are looking to address their defensive issues by signing a new center-back. It will be interesting to see if the Reds or the Lilywhites decide to make their interest in signing the Wolfsburg star official.
