In an ideal world, Nicolo Barella could be the ideal addition to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team. The manager has made no secret of his admiration for the player.
Box-to-box midfielder Barella has long been linked with a move to Anfield as rumors about his Inter Milan future, once again, pick up steam this summer. Barella is a player with many skills, and this summer, those rumors about his potential move to Liverpool have intensified. When it comes to a suggested Liverpool transfer, there are, however, a couple of issues.
Price remains a worry after initial plans to target Jude Bellingham were shelved due to the enormous financial costs involved. Even if they decide to sell their star player, Inter is rumored to demand around £80 million for Barella, who still has three years left on his deal.
However, according to reports from the Italian newspaper Il Tempo, the actual amount may be closer to €80 million (£68 million). In any case, other teams, like Newcastle United, are circling for his signature.
Another thing to think about is Liverpool not securing their spot in the Champions League. The Reds still have a strong following, though, and if everything goes according to plan, their exclusion from the prestigious European competition will last just a year, provided they finish back in the top four the following year.
The player himself is arguably the biggest problem. Despite conflicting reports claiming Barella is “happy” at the San Siro and has no plans to leave, it is understood that Inter are “open” to selling.
