There aren’t many things, especially over the summer, that tops the excitement over Liverpool signing a new player in Dominik Szoboszlai – it seems we all have a new hero who will don our famous red shirt next season.
Many outlets now confirm that we are ready to sign the Hungarian, but when Paul Joyce breaks the news, you know it’s about to come true.
Writing for The Times, the journalist revealed the price we will pay the Bundesliga side for the midfielder’s services:
“Liverpool have informed RB Leipzig that they will activate their £60m release clause for midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.”
After paying £35m up front for Alexis Mac Allister, it has also been revealed that this fee will be paid to RB Leipzig in one installment for the 22-year-old.
While there are likely to be add-ons that will raise the final price tag for the former Brighton midfielder, spending £95 on two players is a sign of serious investment from FSG.
There hasn’t been a major squad sale and with many players leaving on free transfers, Jurgen Klopp’s side needed a recall and with our two new midfielders we seem to have it.
It’s also likely that this won’t be the end of our activities as another midfielder and maybe a defender will probably join the club, but only one non-native player is in our squad – it’s likely only one will be a big signing.
Hopefully having fresh blood in a team that suffered last season should see the rest of the Premier League witness what happens when you poke an angry bear.
The Reds look far from over this transfer window and it’s off to a brilliant start.
