Khephren Thuram, a target for Liverpool, liked a Dominik Sozoboszlai post on social media. The Merseyside club exercised the €70 million release clause in the Hungary captain’s RB Leipzig contract this summer, and the player now plays for the Reds.
At Anfield, Szoboszlai will don the venerable number 8 jersey.
Steven Gerrard is credited with popularizing the kit number.
Liverpool have prioritized bolstering their midfield. The Anfield club have already signed Szoboszlai and Alexis MacAllister. Thuram is another player on the Reds’ short list.
Thuram, an OGC Nice player, played 48 times last season for the Ligue 1 team in various competitions, contributing eight assists in addition to his two goals. Top European clubs like the Reds have taken notice of his performances.
One of the top prospects in European football, Dominik Szoboszlai joins Liverpool. Szoboszlai, who is 22 years old, is already very talented.
He has excellent shooting skills and is technically superb. The player is adaptable and capable of playing in various midfield positions. He is the kind of player who would give manager Jurgen Klopp options to work with.
When discussing Szoboszlai, the German brought this up.
“It is very obvious that he has already had an outstanding football education from the clubs he has played for, the leagues he has played in, and the family he is a part of, so our responsibility now is to continue this education with him as a member of the Liverpool family. ”
Klopp continued:
“This is excellent news in every way, and I want to express my gratitude to everyone at the club who helped make it happen. The effort put into this signing, which is both for the present and the future, cannot be overstated.”
Szoboszlai arrives bearing the burden of expectation. By no means will it be simple to adjust to English football. The Hungarian has time to become a world-beater, though, as he is only 22.
