£108,000-a-week wants a move to Anfield – Liverpool support his transfer

Liverpool are linked with a move to sign FC Zenit Saint Petersburg forward Malcom.

The vast majority of players linked with a transfer to Anfield this summer are midfielders and defenders but a new report suggests that Jurgen Klopp could add a striker to his glittering lineup.

Klopp can call on the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez in attack but there may be room for one more.

According to French news outlet Foot Mercato, Liverpool “appreciate” Malcom and the forward is open to joining the Reds this summer transfer window,

Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have already joined the club and report to pre-season training for the first time today.

The Brazilian, who earns £108,000-a-week, prefers a move to PSG having already played in France for Bordeaux before his £36.5M switch to Barcelona in 2018.

Liverpool are also interested, as per the report, while he has suitors in Saudi Arabia as well although he is yet to receive any offers.

In terms of the needs of Jurgen Klopp’s squad, signing a new forward is not the priority. Midfield signings have long since been the priority on Merseyside while another versatile defender would do no harm either.

Malcom recorded 26 goals and nine assists for Zenit last season and while that’s a commendable feat, it’s difficult to imagine a move to Anfield this summer.

Mohamed Salah could do with a right-winger as back-up but the Egyptian has displayed an uncanny ability to avoid injury in his six years to date with the Reds.

While Dominik Szoboszlai is a midfielder first and foremost, he is able to play on the right wing as well. Klopp could use the Hungarian as makeshift cover for Salah if he has to.
