Kevin Hatchard has urged Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to ‘take a swing’ and seek the transfer of Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka.
The Bundesliga commentator and European football pundit added on Twitter that Leon Goretzka ‘is no longer as unsellable at Bayern as he used to be’ amid rumors he could leave this summer.
After selling Declan Rice to Arsenal for a record fee, West Ham United have emerged as a possible destination for the Germany international, who has three years left on his contract at Bayern Munich.
But Jurgen Klopp is renewing his midfield this summer, with the departures of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in particular. Could Goretzka be a player they are targeting?
If Jordan Henderson makes his planned move to Saudi Arabia and Fabinho follows suit, then another great midfielder is certainly needed to come to Liverpool this summer.
Some Liverpool fans would argue that with Fabinho and Henderson already on board, they should be pushing for another up-and-coming midfielder after all, as Hatchard has shared his views on Goretzka with Anfield.
“I don’t think it will happen, but I’d be curious to see LFC try to sign Leon Goretzka from Bayern,” Hatchard said.
“He’s not as unsellable at Bayern as he once was, but he’s still a great player built for the Premier League. I definitely think the clubs will pull the strings.”
Goretzka would be a smart buy,
Liverpool must insist on this. As mentioned above, the 28-year-old is made for the Premier League and is someone who would fit into Jurgen Klopp’s system.
Some may wonder. Why does Bayern want to part ways with him? Well, things have gone wrong for the club, on and off the pitch, and now Thomas Tuchel wants to leave his own fingerprints.
Either way, the Reds should take advantage and sign Goretzka as he would be the perfect replacement should Henderson indeed join Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabia.
