Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad are all set to complete the acquisition of 29-year-old Liverpool midfielder Fabinho.
According to a reports, Fabinho is set to be the latest Premier League star to join the Saudi Pro League. The 29-year-old’s time at Liverpool has come to an end as he has successfully passed the club medical.
A lot has happened at Liverpool since the end of the season. First, they went against renewing the contracts of three of their senior midfield players and then managed to secure the services of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Even after signing the duo, they were considering pushing for another midfielder, this time for someone who is a bit more defensive. However, those plans have changed drastically over the past few weeks. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho attracted a lot of attention from Saudi clubs and they are all set to switch to the Middle East.
The Liverpool skipper has agreed on a deal with Al Ettifaq. Meanwhile, Fabinho is all set to join Al Ittihad. As a result, the Merseyside club are now looking to push for other midfielders before the transfer window closes.
The 29-year-old defensive midfielder is all set to join current Ballon d’Or holder Karim Benzema and French World Cup winner N’Golo Kante at the Saudi Club. He will be their third major signing of the summer.
The SPL club are willing to pay a fee of over £40 million for the services of the Brazil international. It will also be one of the biggest deals involving a Saudi club in terms of transfer fees. The reds have reached an agreement with Al Ittihad and they recently gave the green light to Fabinho for him to undergo his medical.
According to the report, the former Monaco midfielder has successfully passed his medical with the Saudi Pro League champions. With all major details sorted, there should be an official announcement about the deal in the coming days.
