Liverpool are planning a blockbuster summer deal for PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe, a target for Chelsea and Real Madrid.
According to reports by AS, as relayed by Paisley Gates, Premier League giants Liverpool are planning to put together a blockbuster bid to secure the services of PSG star Kylian Mbappe in the ongoing summer transfer window. He is also a Chelsea and Real Madrid target.
The French international is one of the top players in world football and is among the favourites to take the reins from Lionel Messi as the best in the business. Mbappe has already won one World Cup with France while almost single-handedly securing them a second last year in Qatar.
The 24-year-old still have his best years ahead and can be a game-changer for any team in world football. With the player unwilling to sign a contract extension at the Parc des Princes, the French giants are ready to cash in on him this summer. Mbappe was left out of the squad that traveled to Japan for pre-season and is currently at odds with the club hierarchy.
PSG are eager to not lose Mbappe to Real Madrid on a free next summer and are welcoming impending bids from interested parties. The Reds have been long-term admirers of the French ace and have been backed to make a move.
Mbappe will not come cheap and will set Liverpool back a club-record fee worth £173 million. Add to it his £650,000-a-week in wages, it is clear that the financial outlay will need to be gargantuan. It will comfortably shatter not just the club’s transfer record but also the wage structure. But they are readying a monumental bid to secure his services.
Adding Mbappe into the mix will take an impressive Liverpool attack to a whole new level. Having him on the left wing with Mohamed Salah on the opposite side should make the Reds’ attack dominant against major teams in world football.
With Luis Diaz linked with a move to the middle east, Mbappe would be the best player to replace the Colombian. However, it would come as a huge shock if Liverpool splash the touted amount to secure him. The Reds are after all known to be rather prudent in the transfer window rather than throw money at prospective targets.
Liverpool landing Mbappe would be a statement. But the unnecessary drama surrounding him at PSG is something the Reds should get away from. Jurgen Klopp and co. thrive on a collective mentality and will not want a player who could disrupt it, especially during their revamp.
But Liverpool face stiff competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid for the Frenchman. And Real Madrid, in particular, will be favourites to secure his services, considering they are his dream destination. But Chelsea have the financial muscle to fund a deal for the 24-year-old. It would be interesting to see who captures the in-demand attacker this summer.
