As Plan A bid fails, Liverpool makes a stunning move for a Brazilian midfield star, according to a report

In order to replace Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in the middle of the field, Liverpool is in the process of overhauling their midfield this summer and may soon add a third player.

With the impending departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, as well as the free transfers of Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool is looking for a more defensively minded player to join Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

According to The Athletic, Southampton demanded £50 million for Romeo Lavia, a 19-year-old Belgian, and rejected Liverpool’s opening offer of £37 million for him on Tuesday.

Liverpool has started looking elsewhere for a defensive midfielder to replace Fabinho in case their pursuit of Lavia fails, even though it is believed that personal terms are not an issue.

Andre Trindade, a 22-year-old defensive midfielder who plays for Fluminense and is also wanted by Fulham and Barcelona, has reportedly been contacted by the Reds about his availability.

According to the report, the Brazilian side is seeking around £25 million for any sale of Andre, but they are open to offers. It casts doubt on any potential deal because they won’t permit him to leave until after the Brazilian Serie A season concludes in December.

On April 5, 2023, at the National stadium in Lima, the first leg of the Copa Libertadores football match between Sporting Cristal and Fluminense features Liverpool target and Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade (L) and midfielder Jesus Pretell of Sporting Cristal vs. Fluminense.

A destroyer in the middle of the field is Andre Trindade (left).
Andre would fit in seamlessly in a revamped Liverpool team with Mac Allister and Szoboszlai on either side of him because he prefers to play deep in a three-man midfield. He is a player who enjoys intercepting passes and stopping the flow of the game, but he is also comfortable carrying the ball forward and snaking lines with his passing.

Andre debuted for Brazil against Senegal in a 4-2 loss in June 2023. Since then, he has performed admirably for Fluminense, who won their Copa Libertadores group and advanced to the knockout stages.

Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard has been mentioned, and James Ward-Prowse is reportedly on the shortlist. Gabri Veiga of Celta Vigo is a target, and Khephren Thuram of Nice is reportedly close to joining, but Manuel Ugarte is one star who won’t be moving to Merseyside.
