Khephren Thuram once again in Liverpool’s radar

French midfielder Khephren Thuram is once again been considered by Liverpool this summer as they need a new defensive midfielder in their squad.

FC Inter News reports that Reds are still chasing Thuram alongside Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus this summer. However reports also suggests that he might stay at OGC Nice for another season.

Football expert Jonathan Johnson termed him as a “phenomenal”, as Thuram was close to joining the Mersyside club. However, his price tag became an issue for Liverpool and hence their withdrawal from the race.

Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that finances were a huge stumbling block in Liverpool’s bid to sign Thuram this summer. Speaking on the Born and Red podcast, he said :-

“The main problem with Thuram was that the package was considered too expensive for Liverpool, both in terms of a transfer fee and salary.

“There were many things that concerned Liverpool when they had discussions for Thuram.

“Liverpool are in a serious need of a new defensive midfielder and Thuram looks like the perfect man.”

With both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson left the club and went to Saudi Arabia, Liverpool are in a urgent need of a new No 6 in their squad.

Romeo Lavia is on the brink of joining the Reds this summer. But if the deal don’t get materialise, Thuram could emerge as an alternative of the Belgian International. Nice midfielder is one of the most exciting prospect in all of Europe.

Liverpool could now bargain the price tag for Thuram down to some margin and there’s a good chance Reds can sign him down on a valid valuation.
