Jurgen Klopp has provided a transfer update on reports linking Liverpool with Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in the summer window.
The Reds are eager to bring in a new midfield player and face fierce competition with Chelsea over both stars, who play for Brighton and Southampton respectively.
Liverpool were going to welcome Caicedo to Anfield after agreeing a stunning £111m deal for the midfielder.
But it is Chelsea who are reportedly set to sign Caicedo from Brighton after agreeing a British record deal worth £115m.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have had three offers for Lavia rejected by the Saints who are adamant they will not collect a penny less than their £50m asking price.
Chelsea have reportedly launched a £55m offer to sign the 19-year-old and it is believed that Klopp’s side will match that bid as they look to tempt him to Anfield.
Klopp was shy when asked about specific interest in both players but when quizzed about bringing in a new No.6, Klopp said:
“These specific players, you can see in the moment the market is obviously crazy.
“It’s no secret that we are looking for something like that.”
The German also aimed a dig at Chelsea when it was put to him that Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino was keen to sign more new players this summer.
“That’s what every Chelsea manager wants and usually they get it,” he added. “I don’t have anything to say about that, to be sincere.”
