Liverpool play Burnley in the Premier League on Tuesday, with up to nine players set to be missing for Jürgen Klopp. A win would take the Reds top of the table again.
The Reds are set to go again in the Premier League just three days after the 1-1 draw against Arsenal on December 23. Klopp’s side will go top with a win, with Aston Villa taking on Manchester United afterward and Arsenal playing West Ham two days later.
This time of year is always tough on any Premier League squad considering the punishing schedule, and Liverpool is no exception.
Jürgen Klopp has injury issues, both short and long term and will be without several players ahead of the trip to Burnley at Turf Moor.
Klopp is a bit light on numbers in midfield, but will have Ryan Gravenberch to call upon. He returned, coming off the bench, against Arsenal but didn’t look up to full speed. Luis Díaz, however, went off with a knee injury and it remains to be seen if he will be involved.
Thankfully, many of Klopp’s key players are still healthy and available for what will no doubt be a difficult game despite Burnley’s poor first half of the season. Trips to Turf Moor are rarely straightforward.
Burnley won 2-0 at Fulham it its previous game but Liverpool needs to back up draws with Manchester United and Arsenal in the Premier League with a win to further underline its title credentials.
Moving top in a convincing manner would make the four dropped points in the last week look a lot more palatable.
