Comfortable Burnley win away from home a good sign for the Reds

Making tough matches look easy bodes well for Liverpool.

Playing Burnley on their home soil has never been an easy task for any team. They are especially tough to overpower and do everything they can to make things uncomfortable for the big boys.

However, Liverpool resisted this trend by walking out 2-0 winners and it could have been more had there not been more VAR issues. Nonetheless, Jürgen Klopp had his squad locked in from the start which has not always been the case this season.

The club and fans will all be happy to see Darwin Nunez getting back on the scoresheet. He has been playing well overall but has just lacked the final touch for awhile now. If he can maintain some of the scoring load going forward, it would do incredible things for everyone else.

The return of Diogo Jota in this match was also a pleasant sight to see. Seeing him also scoring just amplified the excitement.

Liverpool’s attack, when healthy, is one of the most dangerous in the league. As we project out from this win, we got a glimpse of what happens when Mohamed Salah does not have to score every week for the club to win.

For Liverpool to go to the top of the table after the Burnley win, with all they have been through this season is a remarkable achievement.

They are playing good football despite not having a set Starting XI on a match-to-match basis. We have seen various players step up at different times and Tuesday was no different.

These are the kind of performances, that while not the flashiest, are vitally important to sustaining a title challenge.

Playing away to clubs like Burnley, West Ham and Crystal Palace for example are not going to be marquee matches. Yet, these clubs do things that make it difficult to come in and brush them away. We have seen firsthand Liverpool drop points in crucial moments in matches like these.

The 3-3 draw away to Crystal Palace comes to mind. But we will not take that walk down memory lane today.

That has not been the case during this campaign as the “Mentality Monsters” have been utilized on multiple occasions to gut out some tough wins. In other cases, they have brushed aside former awkward trips like one to Burnley on Boxing Day.

The way things are right now, Liverpool continue to impress and they are knocking back challenge after challenge. Long may it continue.
