PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe is set to confirm where he will play next season no later than the first week of February, according to a particular report.
The Frenchman’s contract with current club expires next summer, the forward yet to make a definitive decision concerning his future.
The World Cup winner has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid on a free transfer, but recent reports suggest that he is also open to committing his future to PSG.
Mbappe rejected a £259m advance from Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League last summer, with his future still uncertain.
While Liverpool have been regularly touted with interest in Mbappe, a potential deal would be extremely complicated, especially from a financial perspective. However, there have been recent claims suggesting that the former Monaco man appreciates the Reds.
According to L’Equipe (via Sport), Mbappe will make a decision regarding his future in early February, although he could announce his plans internally in January.
The sad news for Liverpool is that L’Equipe report that he will either renew his deal with PSG or join Real Madrid, the French outlet claiming those are the only two options available to the forward.
That would, rather unsurprisingly, mean that Liverpool would miss out on Mbappe, although it would at least bring the drawn out transfer saga to an end.
Reportedly, Real Madrid are eager to see Mbappe make a decision in January to avail them planning time should he decide to remain in the French capital, something the 25-year-old deems as reasonable.
As a result, he is poised to clear up his future imminently, with rumours suggesting that he is perhaps leaning towards signing a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions.
If L’Equipe’s report is credible, then the inevitable will be confirmed, with Liverpool fans able to move on from dreams of Mbappe playing for the Merseyside club.
The sensational striker is arguably the best player in world football, but the chances of him joining Jurgen Klopp’s Reds look incredibly, incredibly slim.
