Fabrizio Romano’s reaction after what he heard about Ruben Amorim and Liverpool

The last few months of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is proving to be more difficult than many had expected.

The Reds descended to second in the Premier League table, while their hopes of qualifying for the next round of the Europa League hit the rocks after a shock 3-0 defeat against Atalanta this week.

Irrespective of what happens, Liverpool fans will give Klopp an incredible sendoff in his last game at the club, and he completely deserves it.

While Klopp focuses on what’s happening on the pitch, Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are on the hunt to find his successor.

Amorim is said to be the favourite to become the next Liverpool manager.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding Ruben Amorim and Liverpool over the last few weeks.

The 39-year-old is doing a phenomenal job at Sporting Lisbon. His team is on track to win the Portuguese League title, and all the focus is on that at the moment.

However, numerous reports have claimed that Amorim and Liverpool have reached an agreement for him to become the next Liverpool manager.

The Sporting Lisbon boss seemed annoyed by the speculation and decided to break his silence. He claimed that he has had no interview with any club and as a result, there’s no agreement in place either (The Athletic).

Fabrizio Romano has now had his say on the situation.

The journalist confirmed that there is no agreement between Liverpool and Amorim, but the Reds have made initial enquiries to find out about the 39-year-old’s plans for the future, his contract clauses and everything else.

Romano further claimed that Amorim is indeed the favourite for the Liverpool job right now.

He wrote in his Daily Briefing: “Liverpool didn’t make contact with Roberto De Zerbi but they had direct contact to be informed on Ruben Amorim’s situation; contract clauses, what’s going on, what are the ideas of the manager in terms of his future, but Ruben Amorim has been very clear. No interview took place.

“Some reports say that he had an interview at that meeting with Liverpool. No. And also, he said no agreement. Nothing has been agreed. And this is real from what I’m hearing.

“As soon as Ruben Amorim communicates his future to Sporting, he will be open to enter into direct discussions with potential clubs.

“Obviously with Liverpool, he’s the favourite for the job because Liverpool really appreciate him, but he’s not the only option.”

Amorim has not agreed anything with Liverpool just yet, but there is a lot of speculation already about what could happen if he becomes the next Reds boss.

One rumour has suggested the players Amorim could target if he takes charge of the Reds.

He would apparently like to bring Sporting Lisbon duo Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande to Anfield if he takes the Liverpool job.

The Reds have previously been offered a chance to sign Inacio, who is widely regarded as one of the most talented young defenders in Portugal.

Diomande, on the other hand, is another truly phenomenal talent, but the Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

It will be interesting to see if Amorim could lure his two Sporting stars to Anfield if he becomes the next Liverpool manager.
