Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes to be inducted into Hall of Fame

It’s undisputable that Patrick Mahomes is a top-tier NFL quarterback. He’s got some serious street cred, leading the Kansas City Chiefs to three Super Bowl wins and making a name for himself at his Texas High School.

In fact, his alma mater is so proud of him that they’ve decided to honor him by inducting him into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame. That’s a big deal, especially considering they had to leave out another star player to make room for him.

The Board of Directors of the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame recently announced their picks for the next Hall of Fame class, and Patrick Mahomes is on the list.

Alongside him are some other big names like Pat Thomas, Brad Goebel, John C. Norman, and Robert Griffin III, as well as coaches Jeff Traylor and Curtis Barbay. They’re all set to be officially honored and inducted on May 10, 2025, in Waco. It’s a huge honor for all of them, no doubt.

But here’s where things get interesting. One major name missing from the list is Kyler Murray, the quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals. It’s a bit of a head-scratcher, especially since some folks, like former Texas product Johnny Menzel, have been singing Murray’s praises.

Menzel even went so far as to say that Murray is the best quarterback to ever come out of Texas High School football. He said, “If you know anything about Texas High School football, I would say (Kyler Murray’s) resume and what he did makes him hands down the best Texas high school football player to ever play.”

So, what gives? Why was Murray left off the list? It’s a bit of a mystery, especially considering his impressive track record. It’s definitely sparked some conversation among NFL fans.

It’s not just about the Hall of Fame induction, though. This whole situation has brought up the comparison between Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray when it comes to their high school football careers. Both of them made a huge impact during their time in Texas, and it’s clear that they both have some serious talent.

At the end of the day, it’s great to see these players getting recognition for their hard work and dedication to the game. It’s a big moment for Patrick Mahomes and all the other inductees, and it’s also a reminder of just how much talent comes out of Texas High School football. Who knows, maybe we’ll see Kyler Murray getting his well-deserved spot in the Hall of Fame in the future.
