Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors have been on a bit of a roll this season and are off to a great start. The Warriors currently occupy second spot in the Western Conference with a record of 12-5 and have been able to achieve this despite their recent injury struggles.
Earlier this month, Steph missed three games in a row due to a sprained ankle. It seemed like he’d be ready to hit the court, but tendinitis will keep him sidelined for a while more, as revealed by Steve Kerr. While Curry did not participate in the team’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, he is expected to be back against the Brooklyn Nets.
Can the Golden State Warriors continue winning in Steph Curry’s absence?
For the longest time, Stephen Curry has been the heart and soul of the Warriors’ offense. So, the team might find it a little difficult to function without him. However, we have to appreciate Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, and Buddy Hield, who have all stepped up in a big way amidst Steph’s absence.
Brandin Podziemski also has the perfect opportunity to stand up and contribute while Steph is on the sidelines. One thing that stands out about the Warriors’ recent struggles is how tired the players have looked. It’s like Dub Nation loses its legs by the time the game heads into the fourth quarter.
If things continue this way, the Warriors and Steph can forget about a fifth ring; they might even struggle to make the playoffs. The need of the hour is for Steve Kerr to balance his rotations so that his players aren’t getting exhausted by the end of each game. If not, it could lead to even more injuries, and the Warriors might not be able to cope with that.
Hopefully, Steph’s recent injury is not too serious, and he’ll be able to come back and have some continuity over the next few weeks. Once Curry finds his rhythm, there aren’t many teams that can stop Golden State.
