Friday night was another tough one for the Los Angeles Lakers and there is enough blame to go around.
Multiple players came up short in the 97-87 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, but D’Angelo Russell got the most negative attention from fans.
As pointed out by Lakers Lead on X, Russell scored just five points, four rebounds, and shot 2-of-10 from the field and 1-of-7 from the three-point line.
“NOT A GOOD NIGHT FOR D’LO,” Lakers Lead wrote, and many fans online agreed.
“Im so over this roster,” one fan wrote, which is a sentiment shared by others who are tired of watching the Lakers lose again and again, especially in games when it looks like they have just given up.
When the season began, it was the team’s defense that needed work, but lately it’s also been the offense, and they have been held under 100 points for multiple matches.
As the trade deadline approaches, more fans will want to see roster changes beyond Russell.
“Im so over this roster,” another fan commented.
Others called out Russell for being too inconsistent, a complaint that’s been leveled against him numerous times over the last few seasons, including during last season’s playoffs.
“For a guy who cant defend, he’s too inconsistent offensively”, a third fan wrote.
A lot of people are crying on general manager Rob Pelinka to get rid of Russell, who has moved to the bench recently after a rough start to the year.
“Get this guy out of here,” a fourth added.
Friday night’s loss wasn’t solely because of Russell, but this isn’t the first time he has come up short and left Lakers fans wanting a serious change.
Los Angeles could commence trades very soon, and there is a lot of speculation about Russell being a part of one.
Of course, people thought the same thing last season, and Russell remained.
What’s next for the point guard and his struggling team?
