BOMBSHELL IN THE AL WEST: Former Blue Jays Pitcher Defects to Astros

The Blue Jays are nowhere to be seen in free agency over the last couple weeks, but their former players are getting deals done as multiple former players have closed deals since the Blue Jays went into hiding.

MLB insider Jon Heyman broke the news that the Houston Astros and former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Miguel Castro have agreed on a contract that is believed to be a minors deal on a one-year term.

Castro is coming off a rough season in 2024 with the Diamondbacks where he finished with a brutal 5.93 ERA in 11 appearances as a reliever in Arizona.

The former Blue Jays pitcher will received $1.5 million if he ends up making the team in Houston as his deal includes a major league spring training invite and there are performance bonuses included as well.
