Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has nothing but admiration for NBA legend Michael Jordan.
That much is clear after James sent a message dedicated to Jordan after the Lakers forward broke one of the Chicago Bulls icon’s records.
On Friday against the Atlanta Hawks, James recorded 30 points, along with three rebounds and eight assists. It was his 563rd 30-point game in his career, allowing him to surpass Jordan for the most 30-point games in NBA history.
A day after achieving a new milestone, James took to social media to share a post with a caption referring to His Airness.
Along with an image of his achievement and the video of him scoring his 29th and 30th points against the Hawks, James wrote, “THANK YOU for the INSPIRATION.”
James also used a black cat emoji, which is in reference to Jordan. The Bulls great used to have the nickname “Black Cat.”
For what it’s worth, after LeBron James broke Michael Jordan’s 30-point record on Friday, he also talked about the six-time NBA champion with reporters and spoke highly of him.
“It’s very humbling, anytime I’m mentioned with any of the greats, and arguably the greatest ever to play the game, super cool,” James said of Jordan.
“It’s someone I idolized in my childhood, and I wear 23 because of him.”
While James and Jordan are often pitted against each other in the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) conversations, there’s no doubt that the Lakers superstar has the utmost respect for the NBA legend.
