Alex Anzalone Sends Message to Steelers’ Justin Fields Over ‘Dirty Player’ Comments

The Detroit Lions earned a well-deserved second bye week of the season with a 31-9 win over the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field on Sunday night in the Motor City.

The game was noteworthy not just for Detroit’s big win but also for the return of ex-Florida Gators star and rising Lions star Alex Anzalone, who returned from a broken left forearm injury and played with a carbon fiber cast en route to a successful performance defending Vikings star tight end TJ Hockensen.

On Wednesday, Anzalone’s comments were broadcast throughout X by the St. Brown Podcast hosted by teammate Amon-Ra St. Brown and his brother, New Orleans Saints receiver Equanimeous St. Brown.

“We had Justin Fields on the podcast last year, he said you’re, you’re a dirty player,” Equanimeous St. Brown said to the Lions linebacker.

“What’s up with that? “I’ve seen in the media like, Lions are dirty, and you’re usually at the forefront.” Anzalone responded.

“Put it this way…AG (Aaron Glenn) says it this way. The way you show respect for another player is how hard you play against them.”

Anzalone was asked if “hard” and “dirty” are the same thing or not.

“I mean, I didn’t get fined or penalized,” Anzalone responded to the Saints receiver, addressing Fields’ comments without saying a whole lot. Fields was traded from the Lions’ rivals, the Chicago Bears, to the Steelers this offseason, and has not played the Lions since.
