The Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team didn’t make the run in the SEC Tournament that they were hoping for. In their opening game, they lost to Oklahoma. However, it didn’t hurt their standing in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, though.
Last week, the Wildcats were 13th in the coaches poll. This week, they move up a spot to number 12. It’s a good spot heading into the seeding for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
Kentucky is fifth among teams from the SEC in the top 25. South Carolina leads the way, with the Texas Longhorns and LSU Tigers both inside the top ten. Overall, eight SEC teams are ranked in the top 25, with two more receiving votes.
It looks like there’s a good chance that Kentucky will get a top three seed in the NCAA Tournament. It would be a good starting point, and a chance for them to redeem themselves after the early exit from the conference tourney.
