Anthony Davis was a ‘Hindrance’ to LeBron James, Former NBA Player Alleges

The Los Angeles Lakers agreed to trade Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for superstar Luka Doncic back in February. Since then, the Lakers have been thriving and the Doncic has found his groove playing alongside fellow superstar LeBron James.

A former NBA player even went as far as to say that LeBron is better off without AD.

Former Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Marcus Morris gave an interview on the “Kevin O’Coner Show”, and claimed that LeBron is able to play better now that Anthony Davis is no longer on the team.

“I felt Anthony Davis was in LeBron’s way,” Morris said.

He then clarified: “LeBron is really a four now and that’s the position that Anthony Davis wanted to play.”

Morris also touched on Doncic’s arrival and the impact the combination of two superstars has had on the Lakers.

“Now you add another guard. Not even just another guard, let’s make that clear, you add a top-five guard in the NBA that can get it from anywhere,” said Morris. “It’s a matchup nightmare.”

“When 77 walks in the building, OKC, Minnesota, Phoenix, Clippers – they dread seeing him. And now he has 23 on his back,” he said.

“What does that equal? 100. Anytime it equals to a hundred, hey man, you got a problem … if LeBron and Luka stay healthy.”

He then picked the Lakers to win the NBA championship this year and attributed that pick to the deadly combo of Luka and LeBron.

Former NBA player Carmelo Anthony, who played his last season in the league with the Lakers, noted the changes as well.

“All the passes that LeBron was throwing to Anthony Davis, Luka is capable of making those same exact passes. The roles is reversed now. He’s AD right now, and Luka is him.”
