Liverpool appear to be stepping up their efforts to bring Andre to Anfield, with reports claiming a formal approach has been made for the midfielder.
The Reds have yet to introduce a defensive midfield this summer, with the recent departure of Fabinho highlighting the need for a number 6 specialist in this transfer window.
Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy wrote on Wednesday morning that a £20m deal had been “proposed” for the 22-year-old, with Fluminense hesitant to sell as the Brazilian transfer window closed on Wednesday 2 August.
ESPN Brasil has since said Liverpool have made a £21.6m offer, which rises to a £25.9m potential for the Brazilian midfielder.
While the approach points to progress towards a possible deal, the current indication is that a final decision from Fluminense is not expected until next week.
The Brazilian side want to wait until Tuesday’s Copa Libertadores second leg against Argentinos Juniors to react against Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to Chelsea to start their competitive matches in 2023/24 and the team are currently short of a defensive midfield specialist following Fabinho’s departure.
Progress on signing Romeo Lavia from Southampton appears to have stalled in recent days as a second offer of £41million was rejected by Saints on Tuesday.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool are willing to wait and see in their pursuit of Andre, but the need for a midfield signing will certainly increase over time.
