CARABAO CUP: All Liverpool player available for Bournemouth as Mohamed Salah cover in but four ruled out

Cherries host Reds in the League Cup on Wednesday. Up to five players could be missing for Jürgen Klopp, but a Mohamed Salah alternative is available.

It’s time for Liverpool to switch focus back onto the Carabao Cup. That comes after Sunday’s convincing 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the league.

The Reds have made a bright start to the League Cup so far, having eased past Leicester City at Anfield in the last round. And with an away clash against Bournemouth now between Liverpool and the next stage, Jürgen Klopp will be confident of advancing further.

In particular, Liverpool’s strength-in-depth available this season has paved a clear opportunity for a cup run in this competition, and while Klopp will still make a number of changes with priority on the Premier League, the Reds should line up with a side more than capable of getting the job done.

Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders confirmed that both Thiago Alcântara and Stefan Bajčetić are set to remain out for this one. Thiago is yet to make a single appearance for the club so far this season, while Bajčetić has been unlucky to face further injury problems after he featured against the Foxes in the previous round.

There was more positive news, however, regarding winger Ben Doak. The Scottish starlet trained on Monday, and it is understood that he could be in the squad — providing an opportunity for Liverpool to rest Mohamed Salah.

Elsewhere, Conor Bradley is close to returning to full team training but won’t be available for selection. Meanwhile, Andy Robertson’s surgery was a success, allowing the 29-year-old to continue the rehabilitation process for his shoulder injury.

Luke Chambers was named on the bench on Sunday against Nottingham Forest after his bright performance against Toulouse, and he will be available to start with Kostas Tsimikas prioritized for league games. Finally, amid the ongoing personal situation for Luis Díaz, all hopes will be for a positive resolution as soon as possible.
