‘STUPID’: Jamie Carragher blasts 27-year-old Liverpool player for action vs Luton

Liverpool managed to snatch a point in their clash against Luton Town on Sunday evening with a late equalizer.

The Hatters thought they’d won the game when Tahit Chong scored late on but an even later goal from Luis Diaz ensured the Reds went back to Anfield with something.

For Liverpool, there were some worrying moments in the game in general. A poor performance by their standards and a mind-blowing miss from Darwin Nunez summed up a poor day at the office.

And late in the game, Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas also made what Jamie Carragher called a ‘stupid’ mistake when he committed a needless foul.

Speaking on co-comms for Sky Sports, Carragher was far from impressed with Tsimikas for halting the momentum Liverpool were building.

“Stupid challenge, absolutely ridiculous. Perfect for Luton, take your time with the free-kick, but what are you doing,” Carragher lamented.

Tsimikas was dropped to the bench from the start today but came on as Jurgen Klopp chased the game.

However, he offered little, and this foul just about summed up his own performance.

There’s a lot of credit to go the way of Luton here but Liverpool have simply got to do better.

This has been a weekend where the teams looking to chase Man City this season have let themselves down, with both Liverpool and Arsenal failing to win.

For Jurgen Klopp, it will be a big disappointment to see his side chuck points away against one of the bottom teams in the league.

Through the season, these sorts of result can be costly and Liverpool will head back to Merseyside annoyed they’ve not picked up a win.

The best news for Liverpool today was the goal from Luis Diaz. But apart from that, it was a pretty dismal day at the office.
