Dominik Szoboszlai has been outstanding for Liverpool this season with the club’s former goalscoring hero Michael Owen clearly a big fan.

Owen revealed what Jurgen Klopp told him about Dominik Szoboszlai following his impressive start to life at Anfield.

Szoboszlai completed a £60million move to Liverpool from German side RB Leipzig during the summer. The transfer made him the club’s second signing of the window dedicated to midfield reinforcements.

The Hungary international has settled in seamlessly at Anfield and has impressed with a string of impressive displays. Liverpool boss Klopp has already described the 22-year-old as a “beast” as a result of his impressive performances.

And Owen has followed in Klopp’s footsteps by hailing the impact the midfielder has had on his old club, as well as revealing the Reds boss told him about how his squad took an instant liking to Szoboszlai.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, he said:

“You have to have some form of arrogance, some form of confidence, to do any job of a real high standard. There is one thing having those attributes, then there is the other of the perception you give to other people.

“I think he gives a good calming influence. Confident personality. I spoke to Jurgen Klopp about him and he said, ‘he walked straight into the dressing room and people liked him straight away’.

“I think he has done unbelievably well to start his Liverpool career. Long way to go, so far – he has had an awfully good start.

“He has created more chances in a Liverpool shirt than anybody else – how two-footed he is, is the immediate thing that impressed me. He can run. Pass. He can shoot. He can score goals and assist.

“He has been a real good asset to Liverpool already this season. He will only get better and better as a player. Gets around the pitch. Not scared to do his defensive duties.

“I think he is a real all-round player. He wins the ball back an awful lot as well. I have just been so impressed.”
