OPINION: Mohamed Salah should ignore Cristiano Ronaldo as Liverpool call on unsung transfer speaks volumes

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has shown that he’s not like Cristiano Ronaldo or Neymar over a transfer decision, as an under the radar Liverpool signing is justified.

After suffering disappointments against Luton and Toulouse, Liverpool returned to its stellar best against Brentford in the Premier League. Two exceptional goals from Mohamed Salah — who is now on 10 league goals for the season — and a curling finish from Diogo Jota, secured all three points for Jürgen Klopp’s side.

Yet despite the victory, Klopp was full of praise for Brentford in the aftermath of the 3-0 win, saying: “More than 20 years ago when I started my career, I wanted to create a team that nobody wants to play against and we faced that team today.

“It’s crazy! This spell where they had six corners in a row I thought ‘oh god.’ But we defended with so much passion in the moment. The goals we scored were fantastic.”

Liverpool now sits just a point behind Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, adding even more spice to the upcoming fixture between the two sides on November 25 at the Etihad Stadium.

Club football gently fades into the background now for the next 10 days as the international game resumes for the final time in 2023, and Klopp will be hoping that most of his players return to Liverpool without any major injury issues going into the City game.

Liverpool’s Egyptian King is continuing to rifle in the goals in a red shirt, which is what he’s done from the moment he arrived at Anfield. This season, he’s scored 10 league goals in just 12 games already.

Salah had been linked with a colossal move to the Saudi Pro League last summer, but it’s thought that he might not be entirely sold on a move to the league and, unlike Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, wants to compete at the highest level.

Most Liverpool fans wouldn’t have paid attention to the signing of Trey Nyoni from Leicester City last summer. This is understandable, considering the teenager is only 16 years old.

However, Nyoni was handed a surprise call-up by Jürgen Klopp to the main squad for the game against Brentford, and this show of faith proves that the talented youngster could have a bright future ahead of him, and follow in the footsteps of Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, Bobby Clark and Harvey Elliott in making their way into the Liverpool first team in the future.

Of course, it’s not likely to happen in the near future, but his rise through the ranks is evidence of his enormous potential.
