Manchester City have been dealt yet another blow in their preparations for the upcoming Liverpool clash, with Erling Haaland suffering an ankle injury with Norway.
Haaland came off the bench in a friendly match which his country eventually won 2-0, but City fans and manager Pep Guardiola will be raged by his involvement.
Haaland went down with just a few minutes remaining, with national team doctor Ola Sand hinting that the 23-year-old had injured the same ankle he has sustained issues with before.
Sand revealed, according to Vg: “He got a slight twist in his ankle, where he is a bit vulnerable. It hurts a lot right away, and then it goes away pretty quickly. Then we’ll see tomorrow how he is then.”
Haaland has been in relentless form thus far this season and has scored 17 goals in 18 games in all competitions. Any potential absence for the Norway international will be a bitter blow for Guardiola and City as they aim to retain the treble they won last season.
City host Liverpool in nine days so they will face an anxious wait over Haaland’s fitness. As it stands, Guardiola’s side are one point ahead of the Reds at the top of the Premier League table.
