Fabrizio Romano hints at Liverpool boost amid links with ‘one of the best DMs’ around

Liverpool are among the many clubs that have been linked with Gabriel Moscardo ahead of the January transfer window.

Now, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update that could mean well for the Reds if they decide to step up their interest.

Early in November, reports from TEAMtalk suggested that Liverpool were among the clubs ‘interested in completing a deal’ for Moscardo.

Chelsea have also been heavily linked with the Corinthians prodigy.

Indeed, speculation has recently been doing the rounds suggesting the Blues had agreed a deal with Moscardo’s club.

However, Romano insists that such reports are untrue, stressing that the race is open. Indeed, he believes the Blues will not bid for him.

At the same time, the transfer insider does say that Moscardo is anticipated to move in January.

“In the last 24 hours we’ve had reports from Brazil that an agreement is done between Chelsea and Corinthians on a €25million package,” Romano said.

“There is no agreement between Chelsea and Corinthians on Moscardo – it is not a Donegal deal.

“Moscardo is a player Chelsea appreciate, but it is not correct to say that it is a done deal at this stage.

“Still, this will be one to watch for sure as Moscardo is expected to become a record sale for Corinthians this January.

“The expectation is for him to move, but although Chelsea like the player and tried to sign him before, my understanding is that this is not a done deal as things stand.

“One thing we can say now is that PSG will open talks to sign Gabriel Moscardo – they will speak to both Corinthians and the player’s agents.

“There are no further details yet, so let’s see what happens, the race is still open even if it currently looks like Chelsea are not going to bid for him.”

This is good news for Liverpool about Moscardo. He’s a top talent who’s likely to have many suitors.

Therefore, knowing that a big Premier League rival isn’t likely to push too hard to sign him means the Reds stand more of a chance of signing him.

According to journalist Ben Mattinson, Moscardo is “one of the best Defensive Midfield prospects in world football”.

Meanwhile, Football Talent Scout described Moscardo as “the future of Brazil’s midfield”.

With Liverpool needing to strengthen their midfield ranks, he’s definitely worth a shout for the Anfield outfit.
